(reprinted from A Girl's Guide to Taking Over the World)
"Feminism has become a branch of academia, and, like any other branch. . . contains many different schools of thought within its supposed whole[...]I am a feminist, and I do not like what a lot of feminists do or say. I do not like being told there is a party line to which I must kowtow; I do not like being handed a tray of dictates that are just as restricting as the patriarchal role structure that feminism supposedly desires to smash or subvert. But I am a feminist and I will say so, and I would go so far as to assert that any feminist who tries to place limitations on what can be included under the rubric of "feminism" has betrayed the original intention and meaning of the word."
